Magherafelt Parish Pastoral Plan 2010 – 2012
Mission
Magherafelt Parish Pastoral Council (MPPC) works to improve the community spirit and faith life of our parish, putting God’s love into action through developing a sense of belonging and inclusivity.
We seek your support in achieving the following objectives in 2010 – 12:
Joining in God’s Family and the Parish Community
To establish a team to welcome and inform new parishioners of religious services and pastoral activities within the parish, in order to:
- Meaningfully prepare those seeking the sacrament of baptism for their children.
- Provide spiritual support for all newcomers to the Parish.
Special Liturgies
- To establish a Children’s Liturgy group at Sunday Mass.
- To support parish families with children preparing for First Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation, in partnership with the parish primary schools.
- To provide spiritual support for particular needs, using the Special Liturgies developed for Miscarriage and Abortion, Suicide, Bereavement and Families with Teenagers.
Outreach to Elderly
- To review the parish radio system for existing users and to identify other services that would improve the sense of belonging of elderly parishioners.
- To develop arrangements to support the Eucharistic visitation of elderly people by lay ministers.
Outreach to Youth
- To establish a faith- centred Third World Youth Group for people aged 16 to 19.
We would welcome your feedback on these objectives by speaking to a Pastoral Council member or by posting your comments on the “Guestbook” in the parish web-site.
