New Parish Baptismal Team

As part of the programme of the current Pastoral Council, twelve parishioners have beeen trained as members of our Parish Baptismal Team. From February onwards two members will visit couples who have registered to have their first baby baptised. They will contact the couple to arrange a suitable meeting time and will answer any questions the couple may have regarding the Baptism ceremony.

In order to facilitate this new arrangement, parents who wish to have their children baptised are asked to register with Anne, the parish secretary, tel: 79633635, at least two weeks prior to the date on which they wish the Baptism to take place.

It is our hope that this Baptismal preparation will make the Baptism ceremony more meaningful for parents and help them to feel that they are an important part of our parish community.

Cinderella Report & Photos

HUNDREDS turned out for the Cinderella pantomime in Magherafelt Parish Centre last weekend.

First-time actors plucked from the local parish, gave resounding and polished performances, which earned standing ovations on each of the three sold-out nights.

From the larger-than-life ugly sisters, to the charming prince, the dancing troupes, to the rocking live band, each and every character left the audience of all ages spell-bound throughout the pantomime.

Parish centre manager, Mona McGlade expressed her delight with the performance of the stage debutants and the entire production team.

“I think every single person who attended on the three sold-out nights, were like myself, amazed by the performance of the cast, many of whom had never been on stage before,” she said.

“The show was highly entertaining and there was a real sense of panto magic throughout the show.

“Everyone involved with the production deserves the highest praise for their dedication in putting on a memorable show.

“The combination of great acting, singing and dancing, which was accompanied by the brilliant live band really brought Cinderella to life in the centre.”

Plans are already in the pipeline for another pantomime in January, 2012.

But for those who want to relive the Magherafelt version of Cinderella, a DVD is now available, by contacting Mona at the Parish Centre on 07872 525 938 or by email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
