CLOSING OF HOLY FAMILY CONVENT, MAGHERAFELT – It is with great sadness that we have been informed by the Provincial Leader of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Bordeaux that the community in Magherafelt is to close after 132 years’ service in the Parish. We are indebted to the Sisters for their sterling work in the field of education over all those years. Sr. Margaret will join the Holy Family Community in Newbridge, Co. Kildare and we wish her every blessing and happiness in her continued ministry. Sr. Catriona, who has been part of the Magherafelt community for 45 years, will continue her ministry in the Parish until June 2024, and we are delighted about this, as no doubt are parishioners. The properties at 1/2 Wesleyan Mews will be sold by the Order and Sr. Catriona will reside in a smaller property. We hope to have a celebration of the Sisters’ contribution to Magherafelt over the last 132 years at a later date when restrictions are properly lifted. |
